Monash
Institute of Medical Research (MIMR) is the premier medical research
entity for Monash University and Southern Health, uniting the talents of
researchers, clinicians and biotechnology experts from a range of biomedical
fields. Its vision is to enhance human health and quality of life by major
research innovation and discovery in biology, medicine, biotechnology and
health services research.
With scientific expertise in reproductive biology, prostate health,
functional genomics, assisted reproduction, stem cells, inflammatory
diseases, growth and development of babies, women's health, and reproductive
technologies for the agricultural industry, the MIMR team works closely with
clinicians throughout Monash Medical Centre and other facilities of Southern
Health. Formerly known as the Monash Institute of Reproduction &
Development, MIMR's interdisciplinary approach now extends to collaborations
in cardiovascular disease, diabetes, gastroenterology, neurosciences and
respiratory and sleep medicine, thus maximizing the potential of various
innovative platform technologies.
By sharing
knowledge and expertise across different areas of medicine, MIMR
is assisting the translation of laboratory developments into the clinical
setting. Defined development pathways are facilitating the expedient
commercialization of these valuable developments in order to address many
medical needs of the community in an efficient and cost‑effective manner.
