The Department of Medicine at Monash Medical Centre is a centre for research and biomedical education, and provides the essential interface between these and clinical medicine. Located at the geographic centre of the city of Melbourne, Monash Medical Centre is a major tertiary referral hospital serving a population of over 1 million people. The Monash University Department of Medicine is a core part of the academic activity of this Centre. Activities of the Department include undergraduate education in medicine and biomedical science, a well-established postgraduate program, and major research programs.
