Springvale Community Health Services Springvale Community Health Services are located at 55 Buckingham Avenue Tel: 03 8558 9000 The Springvale Community Health Service began in 1985. Its role is to improve and promote the health and well being of the communities who live or work within the service area, encompassed by the City of Greater Dandenong and the Westall and South Springvale areas within the City of Kingston. The area contains a diverse population with over 137 nationalities speaking 50 languages. The area has a history of manufacturing, hard hit by changing economic condition. The organisation has linked closely with the community to develop and provide services within the local context. The main focus is with people under 60 years of age, emphasising child and family services. Services are structured into program areas including Womens Health Service, Childrens Health and Support Services, Youth Health and Support Services, Family Services and Dental Health Program. In April 1997 with the integration of Springvale Community Rehabilitation Centre older persons and rehabilitation programs were created. A full time duty system provides information, initial problem solving assistance, referral or arrangement of services for clients and is now being incorporated in the Information and Support Service. Staff include community health nurses/practitioners, midwives, dentists, dental nurses, podiatrist, medical practitioners, allied health, clinical, educational and child psychologists, occupational hygienist, project, social, welfare and child care workers. Staff from other agencies are also based at the centre including Croatian Welfare Association, Bosnian Welfare, VICSEG-Ethnic childrens services, regional domestic violence workers. |
